Ready, Set, Go…or No?

“The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”

-John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men

We all have ideas, we make plans…but sometimes there is an inner voice that stops us from taking our ideas and dreams to the next level; to see them through to fruition. Despite all of the enthusiasm in the world, we fall short.

Have you ever felt this happen in your life over and over again? Instead of “Ready, Set…Go!” our inner voice suddenly shouts out “Ready, Set, No!”

So how can we silence this negative voice that creeps into our minds from time to time? What active step can we take to show this negative voice who’s boss and regain firm standing in our lives? This is where Pausing for Power comes into play. Taking a moment to pause, breathe, and take inventory of our lives is a huge step towards gaining power over the overwhem that can sometimes consume us and takes the form of that nagging negative voice we hear.  We get caught up in having to follow the “play book” of life so to speak…to make our lives picture perfect and hit every milestone just right along the way, that we forget to enjoy the journey. What good is the journey if we don’t have a few souveniers to remind us of the good times, right?

Pausing for Power is more than just taking a few minutes out of your day to sit in silence…this is helpful, don’t get me wrong…but what I want you to do is to really dig deep. Answer a few of these questions:

  • What do I want for my life?
  • What would bring me happiness and bliss?
  • What things/relationships in my life are not serving my highest purpose?
  • What changes am I willing to make in order to have the life I truly feel would make me happy?

When you have the answers to these questions, you then can map out a plan to bring you from the “Ready, Set, No!” mindset into the “Ready, Set, Go!” mindset. And once you are at that place in your life, there will be no stopping you.

Sometimes the greatest moments in our lives come from sitting in silence and simply listening to our souls speak to us. We can plan and plan until the sun goes down, but in the end if we are not in tune with our inner voice; if we don’t pause to listen instead of always speaking and telling the Universe what we want, we will never hear the words we need to hear…words that will light our path; words that will lead us down the road to exactly where we are supposed to be in life. Silence is golden after all.

 Sacred Affirmations for this moment:

I acknowledge that my inner voice can sometimes have a negative influence on my thoughts.

I acknowledge that I have the power to choose whether or not I give in to negative thoughts.

I forgive myself for sometimes allowing negativity to govern my actions or inactions in life.

I give myself permission to Pause for Power and take what time is needed for me to fully comprehend what the Universe is trying to communicate to me.

Take a few moments to reflect on these thoughts, share and discuss this blog. Your insights could help another reader, so don’t hold back, share the love. Tell me what you think? What were you present to when you read this article, Ready, Set, Go…or No? I am so honored that you spent time in this sacred space with me.
